Why Coaching?

Most women pet industry business owners we speak with struggle the most with maintaining a work-life balance. Is this you? Do you over commit when you know you need to say NO? Do you book yourself with way too many tasks because “only I can do them the right way”? Do you miss family events because your client needs you at the same time?

We are here to help you identify the obstacles that are disturbing your creativity and peace. Let’s create a more productive and engaging work-life balance for YOU!

BEST FRIENDS!

Meet Your Coaches

Pamela Ahart-Steward and Beth Greenberg Cotell became best friends at age two, and grew up together in Reston, VA. Lifelong animal lovers, they started All Friends Pet Care (AFPC) as a part-time pet sitting business in April 1998, while continuing to work full-time jobs. On January 1, 1999, they quit their jobs to dive into running AFPC full time. Their business was thriving each year until the Covid pandemic and shutdown hit in March 2020.

The Covid shutdown forced Pam and Beth to regroup in a number of ways, first just to survive, and stay encouraged to bounce back stronger than ever. Their first decision was to reduce their service area, as it was the only way to continue providing the exceptional customer and pet care they had become known for since All Friends Pet Care’s inception. Giving up their office space and moving back into their home offices proved a smart way to save lots of money while remaining just as productive. Their smartest and most successful management strategy was to reduce their office staff to just the two of them, and split up the work week to reduce stress and overwork.

Seeing the need to help other pet related entrepreneurs with their experiences, Pam and Beth decided to launch Monarchs in Motion this year. By getting certified as NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) coaches, they can take a powerful approach to enhancing self-awareness, increase confidence, and build communication skills by coaching, encouraging, and MOTIVATING other pet care business owners.

In 1998 when we started our pet sitting business, All Friends Pet Care, I quickly learned the hard way that it wasn’t POSSIBLE to have my hands in everything! That delegating is a GOOD thing. That not everyone will do things the way I would do them, and that’s OK! Burnout is a real thing, and it’s the reason so many pet sitting businesses close within the first few years.

“Self-care means business” is very personal to me, as I’m a people pleaser. I needed to learn to care for myself FIRST in order to become better in all other aspects of my life: as a business owner, a boss, a wife, a dog-mom, a daughter, and a friend.

One of the smartest things I learned is the power of saying NO. NO to accepting a red flagged new client; NO to taking on additional volunteer obligations; NO to accepting a party invitation when I need to stay home and rest. I had to teach myself the key to making smart decisions, and it starts with knowing my WHY. Am I taking on visits on my day off because I WANT to, or because I don’t want to disappoint the client?

My hope is that you’ll take this journey with us, and learn more about yourself. What is YOUR why? What is your reason for delaying or cancelling your own happiness to say YES to someone else? Where can you learn to say NO and create more happiness and JOY in your own life? Where can you prioritize self-care? Our goal for YOU is to achieve greater happiness in your personal life, and watch it translate to greater successes in your business!

Pam Ahart-Steward

Renewing my mind, body and spirit, by putting self-care first, saved my life and my business. I was a control freak! I had to have my hand on EVERYTHING…and burnout was quickly starting to show its ugly face.

Fifteen years ago, I nearly hit rock bottom and almost lost everything I cared about. When I looked in the mirror back then, I barely recognized myself. Today, I’m not that same woman! Practicing self-care first as a wife, pet parent, and entrepreneur, there is no more burnout or anxiety, and I admire who I AM becoming.

I’m so excited to help you understand the importance of taking time for yourself, and encourage you to develop self-care habits that will align with your personal and business goals. I believe we need to take better care of ourselves before we can productively work and create innovative new ideas. Self-care means business!

Throughout the years I have been blessed with a few other endeavors, including opening and franchising a self-service dog wash, Bark ‘n Bubbles, a Certified Radio Producer and most recently becoming an Ambassador for the National Day Calendar.

A few fun facts about me:

  • I love to workout, especially dance

  • I love watching the sun rise

  • I am spiritual

  • I’m a dog person, cat person, anything four-legged person!

  • I am adopted, and found my birth mother three years ago

  • I love 80s music

  • I LOVE sushi

  • I live by “Love your neighbor as yourself”
